Masoud Delkhah on the Eve of Meeting of General Directors of Performing Arts of Western Asian Countries
Cultural Cooperation between Neighboring Countries Will Bear Fruit

Masoud Delkhah believes theater interaction with West Asian countries will not bear fruit unless the cultural cooperation will expand and bring results.
The need for cultural cooperation between the regional countries were being felt for a long time, said Masoud Delkhah, university professor, author and director.
He told irantheater.ir that most of the participating countries had been not been as active as Iran in the theater field and such meetings, which would deal with the matter professionally was a positive move.
If such gatherings continue, the future of theater would be hopeful in Iran and the region because such constant theater interaction in would bear fruits, he added.
The meeting, Mr Delkhah said, would be regarded as first step to have further meetings to have useful results for theater in Iran and West Asia.
The director singled out the best achievement of the meeting as introducing Iran theater to the Western Asian countries. To improve the country's theater, Iran must interact with effective countries [with rich theater culture], he stressed.
Although Iran theater enjoys talented theater artists, who stage very different plays and can be influential in the region, it lags behind in theater hardware, Mr Delkhah said.
"We should first introduce our theater and prove ourselves and then go for advanced horizons," the author said.
Tehran will host directors of performing arts of Western Asian countries from October 30 to November 1.
Theater officials and figures of Algeria, Oman, Iraq, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan Republic, Pakistan, Syria and Qatar are Iran’s guests during the gathering, irantheater.ir reported.
