Ali Moradkhani Meets Syria, Lebanon Theater Directors
Stronger Cultural Ties Will Weaken Takfiris
Deputy culture minister for art affairs had first meeting with some of the participants of Meeting of General Directors of Performing Arts of Western Asian Countries, saying that the stronger the art and cultural ties among countries, the weaker Takfiris would become.
Ali Moradkhani, in a meeting on Saturday, visited Syrian politician and cinema artist, Zoher Ramadan, and Ali Farhat, Lebanon’s theater director of culture ministry, at the presence of Iran’s director general of Dramatic Arts Center, Mehdi Shafiei, and Payman Shariati, director of Tehran’s City Theater.
Deputy culture minister welcomed both directors and stressed that the meeting of West Asia theater directors had of great importance to Iran.
He added that such meeting could be effective under the current sensitive circumstances in a region. “We reached a conclusion that what we can do with the culture and art following the historical radicalism and past wars and conflicts in the region. This is the conclusion, the more we move in line of illumination, the weaker and lesser Takfiri groups will be.”
Theater, poetry and music are of this illumination wave, he said, stressing the more effective impact of theater on the society. The official hoped that the representatives of the West Asian countries would reach a better conclusion on how to have more immediate interaction with friendly countries.
Expressing satisfaction on exchanging views with Syria and Lebanon theater officials, Mr Moradkhani said that culture, art and history of countries are interlocked.
Tehran is hosting general directors of performing arts of Western Asian countries from October 30 to November 1.
Theater officials and dignitaries from countries such as Algeria, Oman, Iraq, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan Republic, Pakistan, Syria and Qatar are Iran’s guests during the three-day gathering.
