Moradkhani: An International Theater Center of Islamic Countries Necessary

Ali Moradkhani, deputy culture minister for art affairs, told the directors of performing arts of West Asian countries that the gathering would help make familiar with theater of these countries.

Mr Moradkhani thanked the directors of these countries for participating in the meeting, expressing hope that the participants would have better relationships in this regard.

On the role of theater in expanding cultural relationships, Mr Moradkhani said that a dignitary said once that cinema could express exaggeration, television would play it down but theater could be a picture of the real life and one of the best ways to increase the public knowledge as a respected art

On general art policies, he said that one of the strategies to establish dialogue with weaker society was through theater. They could become close through theater to reach co-existence.

We have managed to reach novel experiences with guests from various countries through the Fadjr International Theater Festival,” the official said.

On the meeting, he said that this was a gathering of theater directors who could have positive outcomes. Theater tells the realities of life and can serve as a medium to treat social dilemma. This is why theater is being staged in factories and schools and its positive results are commendable in the country,” Mr Moradkhani explained.

On the achievements of the meeting for theater, he said that Mr [Zoher] Ramadan, representative of Syria in the gathering told him in a meeting [on Saturday] the human societies were subjected to numerous threats and theater could help them out in their miseries.

The cultural invasion by the countries which do not know our cultures and insist on imposing their cultures gives us a mission to rely on our assets and public knowledge to work within the framework of theater, which can be constructive,” the official said.

He suggested that the West Asian countries would expand cultural relations, starting with theater.

The official hoped that the West Asian countries to reach conclusion to continue such meetings and have more theater cooperation. “Such closeness will help in reaching mutual understanding,” he opined.

"Establishing an International Theater Center for Islamic Countries is a necessary to be able to have the works of renowned artists and professors there and turn the fundamental dialogue in the field of theater," Mr Moradkhani stressed.
