Fadjr Theater Festival, an International Opportunity to Exchange Experiences

Secretary of Fadjr International Theater Festival said that the festival is one of the most important theater events, providing an international venue for exchanging professional experiences among West Asian countries.

Addressing the Meeting of Directors of Performing Arts of West Asian Countries, which opened on Monday, Saeed Asadi said that the festival was being held every year to commemorate the victory of the Islamic Revolution on Feb 1-11 while Tehran and some other provinces would be hosting the event, irantheater.ir reported.

Stressing that Fadjr theater festive was a venue for all theater genres, Asadi said that 34th editions were held and the country was going to organize the 35th edition to deal with national and international subject matters.

One of these matters, he said, was social responsibility in art and life as well as focusing on Islamic/Iranian culture.

The secretary of Fadjr theater festival added that one of the topics of the festival’s last year and this year editions was standing against any massacre and terrorism in the world and supporting the art works expressing this resistance.

Asadi said that one of the most important sections of Fadjr theater was new generation of theater in Iran. “Following years of academic education, a generation of theater graduates who are the assets of the country have joined theater circle who are fully supported by the festival.”

The official said that the festival would be a review of top theater pieces performed each year in the country. This is an important section of the Fadjr event at the national level.

In international section, the festival would host works from Asian countries and other states, which were submitted each year to or invited by the secretariat. Thirty-three pieces also compete in international section annually, which are judged by the Iranian and non-Iranian members of the jury.

There are also sections for competition between young talented artists, street theater, play production and play writing and …, he added.

Mr Asadi said that Fadjr theater festival was an international opportunity to exchange professional experiences, which is hoped to be used by the regional countries.

Tehran is hosting the Meeting of Directors of Performing Arts of West Asian Countries, which opened on Monday. The gathering will wrap up on Tuesday.
