Male-Dominated Rules Will World Violent

Fereshteh Sadrorafaei, a noted actress of cinema and theater for more than two decades, has proved her talent, staring in realistic pieces. She is a chef in “Twenty” and the kind and compassionate mother in “White Balloon” and the teacher in “The Painting Pool”.

She starred in “They Watch Us” in Iranshahr Theater and Massoudieh Mansion with Massoud Keramati, renowned actor, last year. Sadr Orafaei plays a mid-aged taxi driver woman who works to escape loneliness in “Five Seconds Snow”.

“Five Seconds Snow” tells the story of five women in the capital Tehran where a common event happens for all of them.

 “Five Seconds Snow”, which opened on October 16 and will have its last performance on November 5, is written by Abbas Jamali. Morteza Mirmontasami is the director of the piece. Roya Teimurian, Freshteh Sadrorafaei, Azadeh Samadi, Sepideh Sabbagh, Sara Lahout and Abbas Jamali play in the piece. An interview with Sadrorafaei follows;

You have played in theater pieces on and off in recent years. What features in a piece are important for you?

The play must be striking while it has correct and professional dramatic features. The director must be creative and capable to be able to get together a great cast.

Did you admit to star in “Five Seconds Snow” because of its realistic features or women-oriented theme?

The content is determining. The piece picture a social matter, which is my personal concern too. Violence in the society is a subject that “Five Seconds Snow” deals with. The characters of the piece can be seen in the society. Their hopes, loves and wishes can be touched. Love and violence are two interlocking things as we see how a love can turn into a violence in a society. No violence is controlled by it grown. We can get aware of it to contain it.

Is violence an issue of the modern world?

Violence is in the nature of human. When the man civilized, he tried to contain violence through law, culture and factors contributing to it. The higher the social, job, political and intellectual security of the nation is, the less the people are subject to violence. The daily violence is a thing the people are facing it, Violence is reflected in driving and behaviors of people every day.

Are usually women and children victims of violence?

Yes. They are. But the only man of “Five Seconds Snow” becomes a victim of violence by brothers of the girl he is in love with. He has been innocent and in love in the beginning. Therefore, I do not agree to categorize violence as a man issue. All of us influence each other. Of course, male-dominated rules make women and children more vulnerable to violence.

Do you regard “Five Seconds Snow” a feminist piece?

Society and its dilemmas are beyond gender categorization. Reza in the piece is a victim of violence and he embarks on violence later when he sees his loves, hopes and dreams dashed.
