"The World's Last Pomegranate", which is written and directed by Ebrahim Poshtekouhi, was performed in Iran-India Friendship Association while the piece was watched by head of the association, Dr Gholamreza Seyyedan, and India's envoy to Iran Saurabh Kumar.

The cultural and artistic program, which was organized by Dr Solmaz Sedqi, art advisor to the association, took place in Sayeh auditorium of the City Theater. Dr Seyyedan and Ebrahim Poshtekouhi delivered speech about the piece and cultural and art relations between Iran and India, irantheater.ir reported.

Dr Seyyedan welcomed the participants, saying, "I do not intend to lecture. I want to express my gratitude to my dear friend Dr Kumar, India ambassador, his esteemed wife, and accompanying delegation, who have come to watch the piece."

He also thanked directors of the associations of friendship with other countries who attended the gathering as well as artists, instrument players, Ms Ramona Shah and Ms Solmaz Sedqi who was sponsor and coordinator of the program.

Dr Seyyedan asked Mr Kumar to develop cultural cooperation between two countries, especially in the field of cinema and theater. "We love "The World's Last Pomegranate" to be performed in India -a culture-loving country- for Iranian artists to be able to take lessons from Bollywood artists and make the latter familiar with Iranian culture, customs and traditions. Iranians have always been a fan of Indian artists and cinema."

It is good to establish closer ties and friendship between the two countries, he stressed.

Mr Kumar also said that "The World's Last Pomegranate" was the first Iranian theater piece he was seeing in Iran.

"Dr Seyyedan talked about closer cultural relations between the two countries. I am saying to my friends that among the political, economic and other activities that I am doing, the culture is the most amazing one for me," the ambassador said, expressing his satisfaction that Iranian theater troupes to perform in India.

Dr Kumar said that Iran Cultural Week was held in India recently and his embassy in Tehran was preparing to have India Cultural Week in Tehran in February or March next year.

Ebrahim Poshtekouhi, the director of "The World's Last Pomegranate", was the last person who delivered speech, saying, "We do not talk a lot. We make our speeches on the set. But I want to welcome all distinguished guests and intellectuals."

"When the high Excellency ambassador was delivering speech, four points popped into my mind to surprise him first my daughter's name is Sutra. Second the troupe was born in Bandar Abbas, the only Iranian city which has one Hindu temple. Third we had a joint piece with Hungary and India and we rehearsed in India for months…Fourth my last trilogy will be God of Small Things, a novel written by Arundhati Roy."

Mr Poshtekouhi hoped that the ambassador would help Iran to have a joint theater piece with India.
