Milad Akbarnejad to Irantheater:
Ten Top Fadjr Fest Plays to Be Read This Week

Milad Akbarnejad, author and director, was appointed by Saeed Asadi as secretary of play writing competition of the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival in August. The section is an early opening for the festival this year.
It is supposed the top plays of the competition section will be read for the audience this week. This was the subject of interview with Akbarnejad.
What is the aim of the Fadjr Theater Festival of holding such sessions in which top plays will be read for the public?
The section is somehow an opening for the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival. The top ten plays of the competition section will be read out. The sessions, which opened on Sunday, will continue until Thursday. Two plays will be read out for theatre lovers.
The play reading session is aimed at introducing the young writers to breathe a fresh air into the theatre and the festival would pave the ground for their introduction into the country’s professional theatre.
The other purpose is to make a bridge between authors and directors of theatre venues, auditoriums and producers. I invite these people and colleagues who have not received invitation letter to join us to listen to these works.
Is your target to serve as a bridge between playwrights and producers?
It is our preferred target to make them familiar through a professional way. The theater family can help us in this regard to make a connection between the producers and authors.
What are your yardsticks for choosing the top ten plays? Were their quality or subjects?
The main criteria have been the quality for sure… But the subjects must be technically represented in the plays. If a subject is presented well, it would represent a good play otherwise the result would not be good.
Do you plan to publish the plays?
Yes. The top three plays will finally be published. The details will be released during the Fadjr Festival.
