“Huntington Dance”, a Eulogy for a Sad Family

“Huntington Dance”, which is written by Mohammad Arab Yarmohammadi, took place in Mashahir Hall of the City Theater on the second day of play reading session of the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival.

“Huntington Dance”, which is written by Mohammad Arab Yarmohammadi, was read in Mashahir Hall of the City Theater, irantheater.ir reported. The play reading session was started at 15:30. The play is about a family suffering an inherited progressive brain disorder called Huntington disease.

The disorder that causes uncontrolled movements, emotional problems can lead to death of brain cells and gradual paralysis of the person. The life of those suffering from the disease is like characters in Samuel Becket’s plays. Becket talks about the disappointment that can be shown through this disease.

Yarmohammadi tells the story of a family from Huntington disease. The children are trying not to give up to their inherited disease but the mother tries to hide it. They try to take medical tests to prove that they do not suffer from the disease. But mother knows they have inherited it. The mother of the family will commit suicide and children will lost job and …after being informed that they are suffering from the disease.

                                                                                                         

The play was criticized by Amin Azimi, a theatre critic, and Milad Akbarnejad, moderator, after the reading session.

The play reading sessions of top plays of the festival, which opened on Sunday, will continue until Thursday.
