3rd Day of Reading Top Plays of 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival

“Khoon Chekan”

Third day of reading of top plays of the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival was held with reading of “Khoon Chekan” (bleeding) by Mojtaba Aqababaei.

“Khoon Chekan”, which is written by Mojtaba Aqababaei and is among the top ten plays of the the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival, was read on the third day of a ceremony for the best playwright competition.

When the play starts, the listeners would notice that they are facing a play about war, especially about Iran’s Sacred Defense against Iraq invasion during 1980-88. When the reading continues, listeners will notice that “Khoon Chekan” is describing a true war. It is about a character named Morteza and the story of chemical attack against Andimeshk. The piece tells the story of Morteza until his martyrdom in war, irantheater.ir reported.

Aqababaei is inspired by a novel named “Scorpion on Steps of Andimeshk Railway or This Train Is Bleeding” by Hossein Mortezaeian Abkenar to write his play. He explains that he used the novel for his adaptation because of its anti-war content. “I am so against the war which I do not care who is fighting against who.”

Telling more about the main character, the playwright said that Morteza was from Tehran and wanted to return to Tehran but war had formed his life in another way.

The play reading session was directed by Mohammad-Javad Tourani while the characters read by Makan Khodarahmi, Ramtin Rouzbehan and Hamid Taheri. The play reading will close Thurday, November 17.
