Tehran to Host Seminar in March

Invitation to Int’l Seminar on Capacity of Independent Sector at Theater

Iran’s Dramatic Arts Center, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, will cordially invite those interested to take part in an international seminar on the capacity of independent sector at theatre.

Emergence of independent theatre is new in Iran. Its development needs updated knowledge and delineation of its clear and unclear, known and unknown borders. This growth will undoubtedly need convergence of the government and performing art activists to draft a roadmap. The center seeks to build a transparent and fruitful road, leading to the development and growth of theatre in the Islamic Republic. An international seminar on capacity of independent sector at theater can definitely help reach this goal.  

The center would cordially invite those interested to take part in the seminar to submit their requests either in Persian or in English to the secretariat not later than December 21st, 2016. The requests must include 1. A summary (between 300 to 400 words), which contains general discussion with a) title b) key words c) hypothesis d) the research question e) domain of research (application form) 2. A CV of researcher 3. A photo of researcher in jpg format and 300 dpi resolution.

The requests must be either sent to the secretariat in CDs by mail or be emailed to

dramatic.artcenter.iran@gmail.com.

 

Themes of the seminar are 1. Necessities, rules, opportunities and challenges facing independent sector at theatre;

2. Successful examples of independent sector at theatre;

3. Recognition of capacities of independent sector at theatre (marketing, development of theatre venues, advertisement, and dissemination of information and …);

4. Relations between state-run and independent theatre sectors (economy, rules, supervision regulations, guidelines and …);

5. Necessity and role of guilds in supporting and promoting independent theatre (professional theatre institutes);

6. Role of universities in strengthening independent sector at theatre.

1. The seminar will be held on March 5-7 (morning and evening);

2. The seminar will be in Persian and English;

3. Given the six above-mentioned themes, the seminar will revolve around the themes (morning and evening);

4. Six researchers will present summary of their articles on one of the six themes;

5. Each researcher will have 15 minutes to present his/her article. Five minutes will be devoted to the chairman and participants to ask their questions;

6. Full articles will be published in the book of the seminar in Persian and English. It is necessary for researchers to send their typed articles to the secretariat until February 6th, following confirmation of their summary;

7. 90-minute roundtables will be held on each of the six themes in which three researchers (six meetings in total) will attend. Fifteen minutes will be allocated for the participants raise their questions;

8. Each researcher will receive financial assistance whenever their admitted articles submitted to the secretariat;

9. Each researcher will receive a certificate for taking part in the seminar;

10. The articles should not be published in other seminars or media;

11. The secretariat will bear costs such as flight or accommodation of international researchers.
