What has encouraged you to star in Shahab Hosseinpour’s “Tapancheh Khanoum”?
The play is written with details and correctly. It is brilliant in Iran classic literature, particularly in its language and storytelling. Also, the author made some changes to improve the play during the rehearsals.
Is the performance form of “Tapancheh Khanoum” different and attractive?
Yes. Its performance form is designed by the director fastidiously, creating a uniform show on stage. However, the director insisted on the from. “Tapancheh Khanoum” was a different experience for me. I usually starred in realistic shows and had played in a few roles that needed a constant physical posture while all my movements have been designed meticulously.
Did you expect such enthusiasm from the audience?
No. I could not guess. Our play was not as colloquial as today’s language. It was not a modern text, which usually the directors like. I am happy for such enthusiasm.
Is Houshang similar to Don Juans of a century ago like those seen in Sadegh Hedayat’s stories?
Houshang is a Don Juan. He is an opportunist who has married a woman much older than him because of interests. His final aim of this marriage is financial gain. He also cannot ignore the young maid Ghomri and tries to seduce her too.
