New Judgement Guideline Convincing

Director of “Crimson Delusion” from southern Qeshm island believes that a positive point of the provinces theater conference was that the directors were convinced by the way the jury was judging the works.

Komeil Jafari, director of “Crimson Delusion”, which is picked from Qeshm island to take part in the conference of top works of provinces theater festivals, said that the conference and new guidelines for judgement were the best measures under the current circumstances.

Directors, he said, could compare their shows with those of their peers and see them beside the jury members to judge the quality of their works.

In fact, directors would be convinced why their works were admitted or rejected and director of any low-quality show could not complain of any biased towards his/her piece, Mr Jafari explained.

He also suggested that it would have been better the directors could perform their shows live. The videos of the shows are judged by the jury rather than live performance.

Asked whether the new method could replace the provincial theater festivals, he ruled out the idea, saying that the regional festivals could help the theater artists of each region get together and had been positive.

“Crimson Delusion”, which is written by Hossein Ahmadinasab, has received the best actor and actress and the second-best director awards in the Third Qeshm Theater Festival.

Mr Jafari had benefited from rituals and traditional ceremonies of the region to perform the show.

“Crimson Delusion” tells the story of an educated urban girl Mahtab who has come to southern Iran to study about Zar ritual for writing her dissertation.
