Manouchehr Akbarlou:

Workshops the Most Serious Section of Int’l Children Theater Fest

A jury member of the street show competition of the 23rd International Children & Young Adults Theater Festival in Hamedan recommended the directors to stay away of cliché and inject fresh air into children theater.

Manouchehr Akbarlou said that inclusion of some new sections into the festival showed it grew into maturity, adding that the former permanent sections, which had become stronger in the previous editions, had managed to occupy its status, irantheater.ir reported.

The new condition would provide the secretary an opportunity to mull over inclusion of new sections and develop the festival in quality and quantity, he said.

Stressing that the festival should have a permanent secretariat, Mr Akbarlou said that this festival should be active throughout the year similar to Fadjr International Theater Festival, which has a permanent secretariat.

Referring to new sections of the festival such as poster and photo exhibition, he said that workshops had also been the most serious part of the event. “It is a pity if the exhibition is not visited by spectators because of its new form.”

The jury member described theater photo as an important part of the performing art history, saying that such exhibitions should be mounted either in Tehran or other cities throughout the year to help improve theater photography.

About the street show competition, Mr Akbarlou expressed satisfaction that the street theater was gradually gaining momentum among young generation and theater artists.

The 23rd International Children & Young Adults Theater Festival in Hamedan will close on Saturday in Hamedan. Shahram Karami is the secretary of the festival.
