Reza Fayyazi: Artists Should Be Armed with Art & Knowledge

Reza Fayyazi, a veteran figure of children and young adults theater, stressed at the closing ceremony of the 23rd International Children and Young Adults Theater Festival yesterday that the artists should be armed with art and science if they did want to work for children.

The 23rd International Children and Young Adults Theater Festival paid tribute to Mr Fayyazi for his fruitful long career in the theater of children and adolescents.

Mr Fayyazi continued with reading one of his poems for the audience, saying that he thanked God for being behind this tribute. “My heart was pounding of excitement before coming up but I am fine now. I do not know whether my colleagues have experienced such excitement as I did. This is the most pleasurable thing that can happen for every human,” he said during in his speech.

He stressed that those who intend to work for children should improve their knowledge and artistic talents.

On creative theater workshops and the demand by the people to visit them, Mr Fayyazi said that children and young adults who take part in such workshops would definitely become great politicians in the future.

“I am sure Mr Moradkhani (deputy culture minister) and Shafiee (head of Dramatic Arts Center) and Karami (secretary of the festival) had at least once watched theater during their childhood,” he added.

Ali Moradkhani, deputy minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for artistic affairs, addressed Mr Fayyazi and said that he was a member of branch 12 of the Institute for Cultural Development of Children and Young Adults and had sweet memories of the center from his childhood.

Mr Moradkhani emphasized the importance of theater at schools and added that theater was institutionalized among the children and adolescents in the country and the officials should work on improving the infrastructure now.

Referring that 135,000 individuals watched the festival, Mr Moradkhani said that this was of great importance for the festival.

He urged for secretariat of the festival to become permanent and suggested that Shahram Karami to be appointed as its secretary.
