“Life X 3”, written by Yasmina Reza, is on stage in Paytakht Auditorium of Konesh Moaser Institute. Saedeh Lorestani directs the play. An interview with her on the show follows.

Saedeh Lorestani has acting and direction for organizations in her career. “Life X 3” is her first public performance, irantheater.ir reported.

Holding a master’s degree in theater direction, Ms Lorestani is interested in oriental philosophy, art and mysticism. She has adopted a psychological approach to the dramatic literature and plays. Her “Life X 3” approach is also psychoanalytical and different.

Ms Lorestani said she had chosen this play because it was close to the concerns of Iran’s society and she saw her worries in “Life X 3” too.

People always try hard and no matter how high their social status is, they couldnot understand or hear each other, she said.

This is the problem of this society too, the director said and added that people oppress each other similar to the way the employer of this play treat his employee. “We do not try to show ourselves through our capabilities and try to make others a bridge for ourselves as we see in our society.”

On her direction and approach to the play, Ms Lorestani said that the text had a psychological approach itself and she sought assistance of several qualified psychologist to help Alireza Mirzaeinejad, the dramaturge of the piece.

“We designed a table not to show win or lose and designed set with four doors and four ways to show none of the four characters understand each other, she said. “Characters tell lots of nonsense and none of them are similar to each other.”

Asked why she used video project in the piece, she explained that the audience were in the mental world of the author and she touched that feeling and wanted to make the mind world smooth.

“Life X 3” is performed every day except for Saturdays at 19:30.
