Directors & Members of IETM from 22 Countries to Visit Tehran

Representatives of 22 countries of IETM will attend the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival.

Mehrdad Rayani-Makhsous, director of the Dramatic Arts Center and the Fadjr Festival for international affairs, said that IETM - International network for contemporary performing arts – which has 22 representatives and members in countries such as Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Slovenia, France, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Hungary and ,,, will take part in the festival.

IETM, a network of over 500 performing arts organizations and individual members working in the contemporary performing arts worldwide: theatre, dance, circus, interdisciplinary live art forms, new media, has two plenary meetings every year in European cities. It commissions publications and research projects, facilitates communication and distribution of information, and advocates for the value of performing arts.

Rayani-Makhsous said that early communications with the network had started a year ago and the Dramatic Arts Center was planned to have a meeting with senior directors of the network early last year. He added that the meeting was cancelled due to busy schedule of the center but the communications and debates led to participation of the network in Tehran during the upcoming Fadjr Theater Festival.

On the programs scheduled during the presence of IETM directors and members in Tehran, the official said watching theater pieces, meeting with Iran theater artists, holding public gatherings with stage directors and producers (on Thursday, January 26), holding debates with Iran theater directors were planned for this group of representatives of European companies.

“Direct talks between artists and European companies are among the primary goals of the center,” he said, adding that he would release a list of other international theater bodies which would be attending the festival in the coming days.
