Ali Moradkhani, deputy culture minister for artistic affairs, expressed condolences on the death of one of the pillars of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, ordering for closing down of cultural events for three days.

Iran is mourning the death of the indefatigable advocate (of the Islamic Republic) Ayatollah [Akbar] Hashemi Rafsanjani, an old supporter of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini) and chairman of the State Expediency Council. I express my condolences to the supreme leader and the Iranian nation and will announce closing down of all cultural events in the country to pay respect to the deceased figure.
