Reza Kianian to Direct “The Professional”

Reza Kianian will have a debut stage direction and Hedayat Hashemi and Bahareh Rahnama will play in his first drama direction experience.

Noted stage, screen and television actor, Reza Kianian, will direct “The Professional” as his first stage direction.

“The Professional”, which is written by Dusan Kovacevic, is about dissolution of communism in eastern Europe and its consequences, irantheater.ir reported.

Mr Kianian played in the piece “The Professional, a Sad Comedy”, which was directed by Babak Ahmadi, in 2004. The play had been translated from German to Persian. Ahmad Saatchian and Maryam Sa’adat were the actors of the piece.

However, Kianian is set to stage the play with a new adaptation, which is different from the German translation.

He will direct the play, which is translated by Iraj Emami from an English translation of the play, which was performed off-Broadway. Mr Kianian will start performance of the play since February 3.

Mr Kianian, an actor, has been active in visual arts such as photography and making sculpture. He had been artistic designer of some sets. He received award from Fadjr International Theater Festival in 1998 for designing the set of “Lotus”, which was directed by Hamid Amjad. Mr Kianian will design “The Professional” too.

Dusan Kovacevic is a Serbian playwright and director. He has written plays and movies including “The Uderground”, which was directed by Emir Kusturica and received Cannes Palm d’Or in 1995.
