The first press conference of the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival was held on Sunday in Mashahir Hall of the City Theater with the participation of Saeed Asadi, secretary of the festival, Payman Shariati, executive secretary of the festival and Fahimeh Panah Azar, public relations director of the City Theater, and media people.
Saeed Asadi said that the main objective of this artistic event was that it should not be limited to 10 days and be divided throughout the year.
In this regard, workshops, play reading and criticism session were held, he said, adding that a conference was held with the cooperation of dramatic arts association of each province in which over 60 directors attended, irantheater.ir reported.
Seven provinces hosted pieces as provincial Fadjr events which created joy and the festival was planning to continue the theater tour in the year, Mr Asadi said.
The secretary of the festival said that 130 pieces were taking part in the festival of which 19 foreign pieces would be staged in the international section (17 stage and two street pieces). Turkey, Georgia, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Norway, Spain and Greece will be attending the festival. A Greek troupe will stage Odyssey, Shahnameh and mythological epics to enhance cultural relations between two countries, he explained.
Mr Asadi said that 120 Iranian stage directors are in the festival with the average age of 36.2 years old. The number of women directors in street sections increased to reached eight, increasing compared to previous year. About 93 percent of plays are written by Iranians.
Payman Shariati, executive director of the festival, said that the festival seemed to wrap up on January 31 but there would be a workshop to be taught by an international instructor, which would continue for five years.
He stressed that this festival would be the most important events in terms of hosting guests. About 2,000 guests would attend the festival while there would be 21-22 foreign troupes would take part in the event of which some of them had many members.
Mr Shariati noted that for instance, the Polish troupe would have 40 members.
