Behrouz Gharibpour:

Fadjr International Theater Festival on Shoestring Budget

Behrouz Gharibpour regretted that the Fadjr International Theater Festival was organized with such meager budget.

The noted stage director argued that a sufficient budget must be allotted to meet the costs of theater ensembles after they are finalized to take part in the festival. “But sparsest budget, which is allocated to the festival, creates financial woes for the artists,” he regretted, irantheater.ir reported.

Mr Gharibpour stressed that should financial challenges of Fadjr Theater Festival be removed; the country’s performing arts would witness better productions.

The director of “Hafiz Puppet Operat” praised the efficiency of Saeed Asadi, the secretary of the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival, saying that one of the strong points of the event had been his presence. Mr Asadi was concerned over the past two years to improve the quality of the festival and consequently Iran theater, he explained.

Mr Gharibpour, who heads “Aran Puppet Ensemble”, said that he had repeatedly supported holding of the festival, which could reflect the country’s theater identity, but it was still grappling with many shortcomings in the event like any other festivals.

On review section of the festival, the artist said that it would give the audience a chance to watch the most significant theater productions of the year.

The 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival will close on January 31 in Tehran.
