First Member of Odin Teatret & Actor of “The Tree”
I Wayan Bawa in Tehran
I Wayan Bawa, who is participating in the Odin Teatret “The Tree” since 2016, has arrived in Tehran on Wednesday.
I Wayan Bawa is from Bali and has collaborated with ISTA since 1995. He is a permanent member of the Theatrum Mundi Ensemble, participating in the performances Ur-Hamlet and The Marriage of Medea directed by Eugenio Barba, irantheater.ir reported.
A renowned interpreter of the masked dance drama Topeng, Wayan Bawa has studied Gambuh, Topeng and Tjalonarang, the drama of magic in Bali.
Gambuh is the oldest Balinese form of dance-drama dating from the 15th century.
All members of Odin Teatret will arrive in Tehran by today, according to the Dramatic Arts Center.
Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret are going to teach two Master Classes and two workshops in Tehran from February 5 to February 8.
Eugenio Barba is one of the internationally-known contemporary theater figures and founder of the famous Odin Teatret.
Mr Barba will accompany the Odin Teatret ensemble where they will present the most recent ensemble performance The Tree, two solo performances, give two Master Classes and two workshops during their weeklong stay.
“The Tree” will be performed at Hafiz Hall for five days.
