Secretary of 12th Marivan International Theater Festival:
Goal Is Educating Children through Performing Arts

Fateh Badparva is the secretary of 12th Marivan International Theater Festival (street-practical-environmental). The festival has seven sections including Iran competition, ritual and traditional, nations, children and adolescents and guests. The festival, which will be held in Marivan and adjacent villages in October, will host educational workshops and specialized meetings.
The children and adolescents section is added to the festival for the first time this year to provide benefits of the art of theater and its impacts to this age bracket, irantheater.ir reported.
Fateh Badparva said that most experts lay emphasis on the importance of children and adolescents theater and the 12th Marivan International Theater Festival included the section given its importance.
Mr Badparva added that Marivan children and adolescents could become familiar with the performing arts and its influences through the section.
“We want quality and noble pieces, which are produced for these age groups throughout the years, to be performed in Marivan,” the official said, adding that the festival would host only four works of children and adolescents this year but the number would increase in the next years if they were received positively this year.
He explained that the section would be non-competitive because the organizers of the festival were at the stage of trial and error for the section but it would be competitive next year.
On impacts of the section, Mr Badparva said that one of the most important aspects and influences of street theater was education, which could be valuable and influential for children and young adults.
He added that not only Marivan but also its adjacent villages would host all sections of the festival, which could be helpful for people of the region, particularly its children.
