World Theatre Day

Message of Noted Iranian Actor Ali Nasirian: Theatre Makes Life Alive

Noted Iranian Actor Ali Nasirian gave a message to honor the World Theatre Day, which is celebrated every year for the past 55 years on March 27.

The message follows, irantheater.ir reported;

Culture is the root of life and art is its most outstanding sign. Theatre is the mother of art, which looks like a tree with green leaves and old roots, creating its fruits of art and passion.

In theatre, man is not dweller of a territory but the soil and life. It is like a light and a mirror of knowledge and awareness who reflects illumination and infinite truths. The gem of man is based on his social relationship.

Theatre and its status were feared to be threatened by social media and modern technologies in recent years. There was concern that this noble and human art would be subjected to upheavals by new means of communications and be forsaken.

But theatre, which is founded on the nature of “man” and “life”, would never be forsaken. As long as man lives, theatre will live  because it is most humane of arts.

Thanks to being alive, theatre will make life alive and eternal. Theatre gives us a chance to think, dare to talk, express the truth, ideas and beliefs, have particular aesthetic approach, reveal secrets of live and listen to others.

The world of theatre is the land of every voices and theatre is the sound of every human voice. Theatre is a stage where any social criticism, idea and thinking can be expressed. It is a huge possibility to make events real. Today’s world is where distances can be removed. In this global village, the earth gets smaller and smaller and every event is as close as if it is happening behind your walls.

Besides its ritual and traditional capacity as well as dramatic potentials, Iran Theatre has been experiencing modernity about 150 years. It has shown in its short life that it enjoys talents and brilliant creativities. The history of Iran Theater proves this while the efforts by its artists deserve praise.

A national theatre has been always a wish of the country’s artists. An Iranian theatre, which is close to national culture, can display nation's identity. Besides  common ideals and language, each nation has its exclusive identity and has to create its national art and connect it to the common heritage of mankind.

No nation could undoubtedly have a national art with half-aware performances of other nations or copycatting them.

It is a good omen that the World Theatre Day is concurrent with the holidays of the Persian New Year. It is ratified by the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council recently following a proposal by Public Culture Council. Nowruz is the new day and theatre is an art of creating anew constantly. As contemporary theatre director said once “In the theatre, the slate is wiped clean all the time.” Iran young theatre can make wonders and create a new and attractive world thanks to its young generation coupled with experiences of its veteran artists.

Theatre is the path of dialogue and solidarity among human. It is a road to peace and human ideals through a beautiful and creative language.

As a member of Iran theatre community will take the simultaneous celebrations of the World Theatre Day and the Persian New Year, which is a national feast for nature and spring equinox,  a good omen and wish Iran Theatre a dynamic new year.
