Amir Dejakam, theatre director and author, attended the press conference of "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui", a play by German playwright Bertolt Brecht. Amir Karbalaeizadeh, Nargest Mohammadi and Morteza Aqahosseini who will act in the play and Hamed Faqihi, the signer, took part in the press conference on Wednesday, irantheater.ir reported.
Mr Dejakam said at the press conference that the play was influenced by Richard III by William Shakespeare and rise of Hitler, adding that Brecht was in exile when he was writing the play.
Contrary to Richard III, which is a psychological and individualistic play, "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" is a collectivist and sociological piece, the director explained.
Stressing that Arturo Ui is a gangster, Mr Dejakam said that which parameters helped such an individual to rise to power was what the play would deal with. "Brecht says if people resisted, such a person could not rise to power. It was a difficult play because it has no poetical aspect," he said.
On making an Iranian adaptation of the play, the director of "Mother Courage and Her Children" said that any artist who works on a piece would inject part of his/her history and geography into it, meaning that he/she could not look into a subject and did not see himself/herself in the play.
Meanwhile, Morteza Aqahosseini said that he would play in the play after a three-year hiatus in his acting.
Narges Mohammadi said that "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" would be her fifth acting in the theater.
Amir Karbalaeizadeh also said that he would play the role of Arturo Ui in "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui".
"When Akbar Zanjanpour played the role of Arturo Ui 20 years ago, I wished for playing the role and I am happy my dream comes true after two decades," he said.
