Ali Moradkhani, Deputy Minister, Visits Puppet Museum

Gov't Responsible to Collect a Rich Treasury of Iran Theater

Deputy culture minister for artistic affairs visited the Puppet Museum in Ferdowsi Hall in Tehran on Monday.

Ali Moradkhani, deputy culture minister, was accompanied by a group of theater and music veterans and artists and Ali-Akbar Safipur, managing director of Roudaki Foundation, irantheater.ir reported.

Behrouz Gharibpour, founder of the museum, explained on how the museum was established as well as introduced its different sections.

He said that the museum included a collection of puppets, made and used by Aran Theater Troupe, during their 14 years of performance. Mr Gharibpour thanked deputy minister as one of the key supporters of the museum.

He added that the museum had 600 puppets and their accessories.

Ali Moradkhani thanked Mr Gharibpour for its studious labor to establish the museum, saying that theater and performing arts had a history of more than one hundred years in the country and it was the responsibility of the government to collect what kept by veteran artists to have a rich treasury of Iran Theater.

He added that a building was purchased to establish the museum and although the space was not big enough but much works could be done in this regard.

Mr Moradkhani said that he had pinned hopes on the management of Mr Gharibpour and his great taste.

Also, renowned Persian singer Shahram Nazeri, who had earlier cooperated with Mr Gharibpour, visited the museum, appreciating his efforts which would help enhance the foundation of art in the country.
