Iran Artists Forum to Host World Theater Day Commemoration

Iran Artists Forum will host a week of programs to World Theater Day (March 27) in late April-early May.

The forum will hold the commemoration from April 27 to May 4 to celebrate the World Theater Day. Sohrab Salimi will be the secretary of the event.

The weeklong commemoration of the World Theater Day is held in Iran annually by associations, which are affiliated to Iran Theater Forum.

The commemoration is aimed at honoring those active in the performing arts through street theater performances, poste and photo exhibition and roundtables.

Posters of Iran theater, some of which dating back a century, will be displayed in Iran Artists Forum during the event.

Iraj Rad, a former director of Iran Theatre Forum, had told Iran Theater last week that these posters would be displayed in the Artists Forum concurrent with a poster exhibition to honor the World Theatre Day.

Mr Rad explained that the exhibition would display about 15 posters, which are among the oldest posters of Iran theater and added that some of them were as old as the tenure of Ahmad Shah Qajar (1898-1930).

Also, the tickets for pieces dating back to 1940s and 1950s would be put on display, Mr Rad said, adding that the original version of the posters and tickets belong to Iran Theatre Forum and the exhibition would showcase a photo of them for the first time.
