Davoud Kianian on Children Theater Foundation:
No History for a Century-Old Kid Performing Arts

Davoud Kianian believes drafting a history of theater of children and adolescents, which dates back to 100 years, is a necessity for the theater community.
Davoud Kianian, veteran theater director and author, said that Iran children and young adults theater had a history of one hundred years, regretting that no written history of it either written or oral had so far been collected, irantheater.ir reported.
"Drafting a history of children and young adults theater is necessary for the theater community," Mr Kianian stressed.
The veteran director said that a century was a long history but no other was aware of such background because there were no written history book in the field to introduce Iran children and young adults theater to the other nations.
Many of members of the theater community knew much about this history, he said, adding that for instance when Hamedan International Children and Young Adults Theater Festival commemorated Jabbar Baghcheban as founder of the children performing arts, many were surprised that he was the founder. "How come we work in theater field and do not know what has happened in the past in the field," he argued.
He said that the Children Theater Foundation was fully ready to work in the field, adding that it was prepared to cooperate with all institutes working for the children and adolescent theater such as the Dramatic Arts Center, the Education Ministry, the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
Mr Kianian stressed that establishing a museum for children theater was a must too.
Davoud Kinian will deliver speech on the conference on the oral history of children and young adults theater in Iran on Tuesday in National Library of Iran at 14:00-16:00.
