The press conference of the 12th National Children of Mosques Theater Festival took place on Monday in Amir Hall of the Hoze Honari. Kourosh Zarei, director of Dramatic Arts Center of the Hoze Honari and Hamid Nili, secretary of the festival, replied to the questions of the media members.
Kourosh Zarei said that several theater offices opened in mosques of small towns, adding that the festival would be held after a 20-year hiatus, irantheater.ir reported.
Referring to the objectives of the festival, Mr Zarei said that the reschedule of the festival was aimed at identification of young theater talents from across the country, training them to inject fresh air into the body of professional theater.
Renowned figures from the editions of the festival in 1980s such as Hossein Parsaei, Hossein Fadaei-Hossein, Milad Akbarnejad, Ahmad Solemani, Sina Delshad and Ali Qorbani had started their careers from mosques, he stressed.
Mr Zarei said that the festival would help spread theater among the common people through mosques and making the art more popular and appeal to the individuals of any taste.
Referring to shortage of good plays, the director said that some playwrights in Tehran and other cities have started writing better plays for the next years to improve the festival.
Hamid Nili said that ten mosques in the capital Tehran would host the festival while 105 plays submitted to the festival, which would take place from April 21 to April 26.
