Shiraz City Complex to Open in May

Theater artists of Fars province will hold Theater festivities in Shiraz and 20 other cities of the southern province for a week.

Bahareh Shafiee, deputy culture and Islamic guidance of Fars province said that the weeklong festivities, which had begun on May 1, would close on May 8, irantheater.ir reported.

The official said that the festivities opened in the evening in Hafez Hall n Shiraz, adding that different groups would have performances in various places of the city including schools, centers for elderlies, war disabled and individuals with physical impairments.  

She explained that theater was mother of all arts so the department planned the weeklong with the assistance of local society of performing arts.

Ms Shafiee added that every day of the week was dedicated to a subject and 20 cities would host the festivities in addition to Shiraz.

She named the days of the week as "Theater and Music", "Theater and Literature", "Theater and Cinema", "Theater and Sacred Defense", "Theater and Visual Arts", "Theater for All" and "Theater and Architecture", respectively.

The official added that Shiraz City Theater Complex would open in the week while "Glass Days" would be performed and a tribute would be paid to veteran theater artists in Afifabad Garden of Shiraz.

Ms Shafiee said that the last day of the theater week would be allocated to opening of Master Layeq Hall, which had given a facelift recently and Babamalek Complex's project to inaugurate on May 8, which would be the day of "Theater and Architecture".
