National Art Group From Beginning Till End Book Unveils

Nosrat Partovi: Revival of Troupe's Name by Rohullah Jafari

Theater Directors Society of Iran Theater Forum held a ceremony to unveil a book titled "National Art Group From Beginning Till End 1956-1977" on Thursday in Entezami Hall of Iran Artists Forum.

The book, which is written by Dr Rohullah Jafari, is the 12th volume of a collection of Iran Theater in Passage of Time. It is published by Afraz Publishing House, irantheater.ir reported.

Payman Sheikhi, presenter of the ceremony, thanked constant efforts by Rohullah Jafari over the past decade to collect details of Iran's contemporary theater. He said that Seyyed Reza Salehi Amiri, minister of culture and Islamic guidance, thanked Mr Jafari in a written message.

Asghar Hemmat, managing director of Iran Theater Forum, argued that research studies had been poor in Iran, adding that the book like "National Art Group From Beginning Till End" which had taken a decade for Rohullah Jafari to write it was a magnificent work.

Hemmat said Iran Theater was experiencing its peak when the National Theater Group was formed.

He asked participants to read the book to find out why the National Art Group stopped to exist, blaming the failure on some members of theater community.

Mr Jafari said that the book had taken 12 years of his life to write because "I had to do the task of a team alone".

He explained that the sources of his book were both interviews and library studies, adding that there were shortage of useful researchers about the group, especially after the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Nosrat Partovi, veteran theater artist, praised Mr Jafari for his 12-year effort to write the book, which had helped revive National Art Theater.

Shokre Khoda Goudarzu, secretary of Theater Directors Society of Iran Theater Forum, wished veteran theater artist Abbas Javanmar to return to Iran one day and Iran theater could pay a tribute to him.

The society paid a tribute to Dr Rohullah Jafari by awarding him an honorary emblem and Nosrat Partovi with the medallion of Iran Theater Forum.
