Davoud Fathalibeigi, Head of Alborz Performing Arts Society:
Launch of a New Theater Place to Be Backed

Head of Alborz Performing Arts Society said shortage of theater venues as well as poor condition of Karaj City Theater Complex were among problems of artists in a province located in the west capital Tehran.
Davoud Fathalibeigi, actor and director, told irantheater.ir that Karaj City Theater Complex had a poor condition, adding that one of the most important concerns of the city (center of Albrorz province) was shortage of proper places for professional performances.
Karaj City Theater Complex was surrounded by a park (with no good reputation for its safety), making audience feel unsafe during the days not to mention nights, he explained, adding that young artists prepare professional plays but they lack places to perform them.
Mr Fathalibeigi said that many praised plays from the provincial artists, which had been aperformed in the Fadjr Theater Festival, failed to have public show due to shortage of proper theater venues.
Construction of a professional theater place was being backed, he said, adding that such place would help improve economy of the society and major theater troupes.
The actor said that a theater place, which was under construction in Hashtgerd, would be launched this year, stressing that the province had weak theater infrastructure because it was close to Tehran and had not been independent in the past.
