Cyrus Kahourinejad:

“Restless Dance” May Have Performance in Vahdat Hall

Cyrus Kahourinejad, noted cinema, theater and television actor, will soon direct “Restless Dance”.

The director of plays such as “Smell of Blood”, “Time of Silent for the Alive”, “Faraway Journey”, told irantheater.ir that he was working on the play to be prepared for stage.

He said that he had written the play, which would tell the story of two important figures of southern Iran’s contemporary history; Imam Qoli Khan and Mir Mohana Bandar Rigi.

Mr Kahourinejad explained that Mir Mohana lived a century ago in southern Iran and was one of main military leaders of Bushehr which protested against foreign occupants of Iran and bravely fought them.

Imam Qoli Khan lived during Shah Abbas of Safavid dynasty (1 October 1588 – 19 January 1629) and fought against Portuguese occupants of southern Iran, he added.

The director said that a rewriting of the play would finish until early June and he would direct it but would not play in it.

On the venue for performing it, Mr Kahourinejad said that he was negotiating with Mr Shah Ali, manager of Vahdat Hall, and he had given promises for play to be performed there.

Given the movements and war scenes, the director added, about 20 actors and actresses would act in the play of whom majority would be renowned.

A graduate of Tehran Faculty of Fine Arts, Mr Kahourinejad started his professional acting career with “Matouri”, a play directed by Shohreh Lorestani in 1980. He made the movie “Bi Bi” in 1986. His debut in cinema as actor was “Beyond Sunset” in 1988.

He acted in plays such as “Babour”, “Shahrzad”, “Well’s Wedding”, “Electra”, “With Sea”, Ra’na”, “Persian Gulf Dreams” and “Thieves”.

He received acting award from the Fadjr International Festival for “Ra’na”.
