Asghar Nobakht, Head of Qom Performing Arts Society:
Privatization Will Benefit Theater

Head of Qom Performing Arts Society said that the society would have holding the second street theater festival in the province on the agenda.
Asghar Nobakht told irantheater.ir that Ta’zieh (a kind of passion play) and Takhte-Hozi (popular plays which include comedy and music, dance and poetry) were popular in central province of Qom.
He added that popularity of Ta’zieh among residents of Qom had helped tap many talents in this genre.
Mr Nobakht said that the province was preparing to host Karimeh religious festival in which six stage and three street pieces would compete in late May.
He added that the most important move was opening of an 84-seat theater venue in the province last year, adding that Saeed Asadi hold a master class on street theater in Culture and Art University in April and the groups were expecting the second round of such classes.
Mr Nobakht said that the society would try to help immediate use of a 500-seat auditorium, four black boxes and a circular hall, which had been opened last year, during this year.
Referring to success of the private halls in recent years, Mr Nobakht said that the society had suggested that these halls would be run by private sectors because they could solve their financial problems better.
