Khosrow Shahraz:
"Darkhoungah" & "Chera" on Stage in Late Summer

Khosrow Shahraz, veteran cinema theater actor, has had a successful career. He starred in series such as "Billionaire", "Forat", "Tehran Rooftop", "Elephant", "Paper House", "To Mark Ashkan's Arrival" and "Past Participle". He played realistic roles in plays of "Hamlet" and "Oliver Twist". Khosrow Shahraz told Iran Theater that he would stage "Darkhoungah" and "Chera" in late summer.
Mr Shahraz said that he was involved in rehearsal of "Chera", which had been directed by Ardalan Shoja'-Kaveh for some time. The play, which is written by Elnaz Ourami, is about a nurse who is going to take care of a disable patient but she gets stuck in a horrible situation.
Mr Shahraz said he was playing the role of the disable military sergeant in the piece in which Eliza Roumi and Arezou Haghshenas would also star.
He further said that he was going to play in "Darkhoungah", which is written and directed by Abdolreza Akbari, adding that the piece was an Iranian folklore story about two faithful and humane heroes.
Gholam Babouteh and Pendar Akbari would be his fellow cast members in the play.
Referring to traditional story of "Darkhoungah", Mr Shahraz said that it was the story of people who lived in Tehran in not-so-distant past. The story, which has many dramatic ups and downs and is suspended between realism and surrealism, will be performed in late summer, he added.
On how he would choose his roles, Mr Shahraz said he was general interested in starring in different multi-faceted characters and had never gone for simple roles.
Mr Shahraz received the best actor award of the Fadjr International Theater Festival two years ago for playing the role of Fagin in "Oliver Twist".
He has cooperated on stage and screen with big names such as Hamidreza Nemati, Arash Dadgar, Alireza Amini and Ebrahim Hatamikia.
