Hadi Marzban:

Fadjr Festival Must Focus on Domestic Groups

Hadi Marzban, noted director, recommended Farhad Monhandespour, who had been recently appointed the secretary of the Fadjr International Theater Festival, to take support from officials to give priority to domestic theater groups.

Mr Marzban, whose "Bongahe Theatral", which is written by renowned actor and director Ali Nasirian, is on stage in Sangelaj Theater, expressed hope that officials would support Farhad Mohandespour financially and logistically for him to be able to implement his ideas and projects.

He suggested Mr Mohandepour to exert efforts to take as much support as possible from friends and officials and then prioritize domestic groups instead of inviting unknown foreign troupes for international section of the festival.

"Many Iranian student groups have better works compared to unknown foreign groups. There is no need to bring them to Iran to make the festival international," he explained.

Mr Marzban hoped that theater artists of different tastes to take part in the festival to see and criticize plays of each other and become acquainted with the thoughts of colleagues, adding that that would be a time that Iran theater community could claim it had a real festival.
