Masoumeh Rahmani tells more about “Anna Karenina”.

You have received kudos for your acclaimed acting in movies such as “Life+1 Day” and “Qeitariyeh” over the past year. You have taken steps towards different and multi-layered roles. How much have you tried to reach this point in your acting?

Everything ends in theater for me. Of course, I have had different experience in cinema and I think it has its appeals. But I am acting in theater close to one decade. I owe my progress in theater to my constant presence. I have never wanted to remain idle in my roles. I do not like to remain an actress at any price and play neutral and repeated roles. It is not important for me not play any role for a while and wait for good roles.

Do you admit that playing in pieces such as “Anna Karenina”, which have a few characters and are dialogue-based, will show the acting talent of an actress?

Arash Abbasi (director) wants a new interpretation of his play when he suggested me to play in “Anna Karenina”.  That is why his play has two characters. After reading the play, I thought it was perfect although it was not complete back then. I trusted his talents. He acts democratically during rehearsals and included any points that I had into the piece if he agreed with me…I have to stress that it is very important for me that the play is dialogue-based.
