Critics, Spectators Welcome Iranian Play at Avignon

Mehdi Mashhour’s “The Door” at Garage International

Mehdi Mashhour’s “The Door”, Iran’s representative in 71st Off Avignon Festival, was welcomed by members of audience and critics.

“The Door”, which written and directed by Mehdi Mashhour, was performed at Garage International Hall, Iran Theater reported.

After Sweden, Germany and the US, Iran Sayeh Theatre performed “The Door” in Toronto Fringe Festival and 71st Off Avignon Festival.

“The Door” is played by Shiva Makinian and Mina Zaman. The 60-minute play deals with immigration from the perspective of two Iranian women.

Benyamin Esbati is an advisor to the director, Saeed Hassanlou set designer, Sara Rasouli international affairs, Mohammad Mosavat poster designer and Saman Khalilian execution of plan.

Mehdi Mashhour has so far directed “Words” and “Man”, which were performed in Latvia, Germany, France, Italy, Armenia and US.

The Door" was performed in English in Toronto on July 7-15 and July 21-25 in France.
