An Interview with Javad Eshkezari, Director
Play’s Idea Taken from Life of Reza Kianian

The 12th Razavi Theater Festival opens on Sunday. Iran Theater has conducted an exclusive interview with Javad Eshkezari, the director whose “Life Maybe Just Now” is a lineup show in the stage section of the event.
“Life Maybe Just Now” tells the story of three generations of a family who resort to vow. The main idea of the play was taken from the life of artists such as Reza Kianian.
The play is about the society as his previous writings. In fact, it is about how three generations of the society do their vows. Mr Eshkezari believes people resort to vows to the eight Shia Imam Reza (AS) to reach their wishes. But they reached their wishes, they forget to fulfill vows. The play shows how to be fully committed to our vows and obligations, heads.
Mr Eshkezari says that an interview with Davoud Kianian about the birth and naming of Reza (Kianian) had made him to write the play.
“Life Maybe Just Now” was awarded in the 11th edition of the festival in play writing. He turned a real play into a surreal show.
Mr Eshkezari, who had made a surreal and modern set for his play, says that a director who is writer of his play must be able to draw border between his two professions.
He explains that he is taking part in the festival for the third time as a playwright but his first as director, adding that Bojnoud has been a good host for the festival.
Mr Eshkezari believes that Razavi Theater Festival paves the ground for religious theater to be made, saying that he thinks such religious plays must be performed throughout the year, especially in Mashahd which is home to holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
“Life Maybe Just Now” is being performed in Mashhahd for the public since July 24. It will have its last performance on August 11. It will be perfomed in the festival on July 31 and August 1.
The festival will close on August 2 in Bojnurd, Noth Khorasan province.
