“A Barren Day” Portrays Truths

Leila Arshad, director of “Khaneh Khorshid (The House of Sun)”, a NGO dealing with women sex workers, watched “A Barren Day”, which is written and directed by Hossein Kiani, on Friday.

Leila Arshad recommended experts and those concerned of social disorders in Iran to watch the play, Iran Theater reported.

“A Barren Day”, she said, was a valuable play made based on incidents happened years ago.

Ms Arshad founded “Khaneh Khorshid” in 2006 to help assist women sex workers in one of the most deprived neighborhoods of the capital Tehran -Darvazeh Ghar and Shoush. The clients of this NGO are in difficult social problems, grappling with the consequences of their incorrect decisions or victims of their bad guardians and place of living. They need help and compassion to get out of their plights.

A Barren Day” tells the story of three prostitutes in Iran during the last days of the Pahlavi regime. The three women are living in a neighborhood called “Qaleh Zahedi”. The story continues with an attack on the neighborhood, which forces three women to escape for the sake of their lives. They shelter in a place after that escape.

Hossein Kiani is the writer and director of “A Barren Day”. Fahimeh Amanzadeh, Shayesteh Irani, Elaheh Shahparast and Roya Mirelmi play in the show.

Mohammad Goudarziani is assistant director, planner and production director, Hamid Hosseini, Ashkan Delavari, Mahla Pakdamen the direction team, Maria Hajiha makeup designer, Farshad Fozouni music and special effects and Ali Motahari execution director.

“A Barren Day” opened on July 23. It has performance every day except for Saturdays at 21:00 at Baran Theater. It will close on August 22.
