12th RAZAVI Theater Festival Opens in Bojnourd

Stamp Unveiled, Martyrs Paid Tribute

The 12th Annual RAZAVI National Theater Festival opened in northeastern city of Bojnourd in a ceremony in which the stamp of the event was unveiled. Artists paid tribute to martyrs who defended holy shrines in Syria and Iraq in the city’s cemetery afterward.

Servants of Imamzadeh Soltan Seyyed Abbas Ibn Moussa Ibn Jafar -brother of the eight Shia Imam Reza (AS) welcomed artists in the his holy shrine, Iran Theater reported.

They later dedicated flowers to artists and jury members of the festival

Addressing the ceremony on Sunday, Hossein Farkhondeh, secretary of the festival, said that the city of Bojnourd played host to the festival for the seven years.

“The culture-loving people of North Khorasan (province) and support of the officials of the province of this major event helped them remain a host to the festival,” the official said.

The secretary of the festival said that one of the advantages of the festival was construction of Shams Theater Hall in the city while the event had helped interaction between provincial and national officials and improving the quality of theater products in North Khorasan province.

Mr Farkhondeh added that 133 plays were submitted to the festival of which 44 reached the production section and eight plays are the final lineup shows of the festival while the festival had two guest plays to be performed in the cities of Shirvan and Esfarayen.   

Later, stamp of the festival was unveiled by Mehrdad Ebrahimi, deputy governor general of North Khorasan province.

The participants paid tribute to martyrs who defended holy shrines in Syria and Iraq in the city’s cemetery afterward.

The second day of the 12th Annual RAZAVI National Theater Festival opened on Monday with one Pardeh Khani by master Madahnia and four stage plays of “It’s a Rainy Cloud”, which is written and directed by Asghar Graousi from Shiraz, “Chenar Laleh”, which is written and directed by Mahdi Ashough from Andimeshk, “Esmail”, which is written and directed by Sina Shafiee from Karaj, and “Breaking the Talsiman”, which is written and directed by Mohammad Reza Shahmardi from Qom

The festival will close on August 2.
