The 12th RAZAVI Theater Festival awarded the winners late Wednesday at the closing ceremony, which was attended by the deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance, Ali Moradkhani, director general of the Dramatic Arts Center, Mahdi Shafiee, and North Khorasan governor general, Mohammad Reza Salehi, as well as secretary of the event, Hossein Farkhondeh.
Nima Karami was presenter of the closing ceremony, which was held in Golshan hall of Bojnourd in northeastern Iran and center of North Khorasan province, Iran Theater reported.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Salehi said that audience was the main asset of theater and the festival could not be successful over the years without its enthusiastic spectators.
He added that hosting of the festival was a chance for the province to convey its culture to those who come to the province for the festival.
Following the speech of Mr Salehi, maestro Isa Qolipour, virtuoso traditional instrument player, played dotar (a Persian string instrument). Then, Hossein Madahnia, Pardeh Khan artist, was paid tribute.
Payam Dehkordi, representative of the jury of the festival, read out the statement of the members, saying that it was a major event that such festival was held in Iran.
He said he believed Bojnourd was a valuable host for the festival thanks to its unique spectators.

Following announcing of Sina Shafiee as the best director, Sina Shafiee demanded for public performance of "Esmail". Director general of Dramatic Arts Center, Mahdi Shafiee, admitted for "Esmail" to be performed at the Tehran City Theater Complex.
The jury members of play writing including Milad Akbarnejad, Abolhay Shamasi and Hossein Fadaeihossein selected the following plays as winners.
"Who Was the One Who Read the Letter?", written by Seyyed Majid Mirhosseini from Fars province
"Last Year, Shrine", written by Masoud Ahmadi from Shiraz, Fars province
"Eight Journey", written by Hossein Shamsabadi from Razavi Khorasan province
The 12th Annual RAZAVI National Theater Festival opened over the weekend. It closed on August 2.
133 plays were submitted to the festival of which 44 reached the production section. The final shows of the festival had been eight. The festival had two guest plays, which had been performed in the cities of Shirvan and Esfarayen.
