"My City and I", which is directed by Farhad Tajvidi, opened at Parastou Theater of Damavand in the presence of Armaghan Behdarvand, managing director of Performing Arts Association, and Asghar Hemmat, managing director of Iran Theater Forum.
The performance was outcome of the first "Rehearsal to Performance" Workshop, Iran Theater reported.
Mohammad Hossein Esmaili, deputy Tehran Culture and Islamic Guidance Department for cinematic affairs, and some noted theater artists attended the opening of "My City and I" on Saturday.
Amir Hossein Shafiee, head of board of directors of Tehran Performing Arts Association, said that although the capital Tehran had many theater venues, the cities of Tehran province had been the most deprived ones in the country.
Mohammad Hossein Esmaili, deputy Tehran Culture and Islamic Guidance Department for cinematic affairs, praised activities of Tehran Performing Arts Association which had contributed to improvement of culture and art.
Arghar Hemmat, managing director of Iran Theater Forum, and Armaghan Behdarvand, managing director of Performing Arts Association, unveiled the poster of "My City and I".
Behzad Farahani, noted theater actor, talked at the opening despite his reluctance, saying that intervention of the government in theater field paved the ground for unbridled presence of cinema and television stars in theater.
He argued that such intervention made theater to distance from its ideal objectives.
Then, "My City and I" was performed for the participants with the direction of Farhad Tajvidi.
"My City and I" has 30 performance at Parastou Theater in Damavand. It is performed by talented youth who took lessons from Farhad Tajvidi in the eight-month workshop.
Noted figures attended the opening of the performance were Behzad Farahani, Reza Babak, Maryam Kazemi, Saeed Dakh, Kazem Hajirazad, Mehdi Miami, Khosrow Ahmadi, Reza Banafshekhah, Asghar Tajat, Javad Arabi, Houman Rahnemoun and Mehdi Habibi.
