With 242 Vote in Favor
Seyyed Abbas Salehi Becomes Culture Minister

Seyyed Abbas Salehi has become the country’s minister of culture and Islamic guidance as the parliament cast 242 votes in his favor.
The parliament gave votes of confidence to the ministers introduced by President Hassan Rouhani on August 20. Seyyed Abbas Salehi granted 242 votes in favor, 25 against and 21 abstentions, Iran Theater reported.
Mr Salehi defended his program in the parliament floor before the vote.
Mr Salehi was the deputy culture minister for cultural affairs in the previous government of president Rouhani. He is an academician who studies at the Islamic seminaries of Mashhad and Qom. He is a university graduate of philosophy.
He has written more than 50 academic papers and penned three books; “Religion and Government in Mid-Centuries”, “Individual and Government in Thoughts and Ideas of Sheikh Mofid and Seyyed Morteza,” and “Central Role of Imam”.
He was a member of the leader-appointed Islamic Propagation Office (1997-2002), a member of the board of trustee of the leader-appointed Islamic Propagation Office (2002-present), a member of publishing the books of the supreme leader (1995-1998), in charge of planning council of the Islamic Propagation Office of Qom Seminary (1997-2004), a member of Culture Thinktank to draft model for Islamic-Iranian development and etc.
