The opening ceremony of the 18th Ritual/Traditional Theater Festival took place on Friday at the outdoor space of the City Theater Complex in Tehran.
The ceremony in which Mahdi Shafiee, director general of Dramatic Arts Center, Davoud Fathalibeigi, secretary of the festival, Payman Shariati, director of the City Theater Complex, attended, was warmly welcomed by the public.
The ceremony was held in the evening of Friday, September 11, which was concurrent with Eid al-Adha, the second and most holy Eid of the Islamic year, Iran Theater reported.
No speech was delivered at the opening ceremony contrary to any such ceremonies and the artists performed traditional and ritual Iranian performing arts such as Kheimeh Shab-Bazi, Siah-Bazi, Naghali, Shahnameh reading and folklore music was played.
Mahdi Shafiee, director general of the Dramatic Arts Center, who attended the ceremony with his children thanked the spectators and organizers for their enthusiasm which showed the rituals were alive among the people and in Islamic Iranian culture.
18th Ritual/Traditional Theater Festival will close on September 6.
