Badparva: 23 Performances per Day

He added that 43 plays would be performed per day during the festival in the border city, Iran Theater reported.

The poster of the festival was also revealed concurrent with its press conference in which Mahdi Shafiee, director general of the Dramatic Arts Center, Armaghan Behdarvand, managing director of Iran Association of Performing Arts, Mr Badparva, Saman Khalilian, director of Street Theater Society, Kayvan Nakhaei, public relations head of the Dramatic Arts Center, and Mahdi Hajian, director of secretariat of festivals of the Dramatic Arts Center, as well as press corps.

Mahdi Shafiee thanked members of the press for reflecting theater news, describing as important the Marivan festival, which could tap the potentials of artists in Kurdistan of Iran.      

The high capacity of people of Marivan has promoted the status of street theater festival to one of the most important theater event of the country, he stressed.

The official praised the increase in the number of foreign groups in the upcoming edition of the festival.

The poster of the festival, which was designed by Hamid Nikkhah, a graphic designer, was unveiled after Mr Shafiee's speech.

Mr Badparva also said that the festival, which was born during Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) in Marivan which borders Iraq thanks to enthusiasm of artists, was turned into an international event now.

He explained that 43 plays would be performed daily in 10 neighborhoods of  Marivan and six nearby villages, adding that five plays in review, five in children, 26 in ritual, 20 in competition and six in international sections would take part in the festival.  

Mr Badparva said that the festival's secretariat had communicated with close to 100 foreign troupes of which groups from France, Spain, Azerbaijan Republic, Brazil, Iraq's Kurdistan and Ukraine would participate.

The 12^th Marivan International Street Theater will be held on September 9 to September 13 in Marivan.
