18th Ritual/Traditional Theater Festival Closes
A Ceremony with Iranian Sense of Humor
The closing ceremony of the 18th Ritual/Traditional Theater Festival opened Wednesday evening with the participation of Mahdi Shafiee, director general of the Dramatic Arts Center and Davoud Fathalibeigi, secretary of the festival, at the outdoor area of Vahdat Hall.
The closing ceremony of the 18th Ritual/Traditional Theater Festival began with feasting the guests with Iranian beverages and fruits, Iran Theater reported.
The presenter of the ceremony has been Reza Rafie, who is a famous for his satire poetry.
The ceremony followed by a speech by Mr Fathalibeigi while a Siah, a blackface clown character in Iranian theater, cracked jokes.
Mr Fathalibeigi, in his brief speech, said that all Iranian kids must learn Naghali (storytelling) since childhood, and elaborated on the festival since it was born till today.
The ceremony was followed with a Ta'zieh, a mourning, for martyr Mohsen Hojaji, who was beheaded in Syria by Daesh (Isis). The Ta'zieh was performed by Velayat Troupe, which is Mahdi Daryayie.
A video clip, directed by Atabak Naderi, was aired to commemorate artists of the ritual and traditional theater, performance of Siah Bazi and opening ceremony.
Hojatol Islam Mazani, a member of the parliament cultural committee, Ahmad Masjed Jamei, a member of Tehran City Council, Armaghan Behdarvand, managing director of Iran Association of Performing Arts, Asghar Hemmat, managing director of Iran Theater Forum and a number of artists and officials attended the ceremony.
