Behzad Abdi on Bach and his latest show

Iran Theater- Behzad Abdi has staged the play "Bach" by combining theater and music in a narrative format. In this play, he also discusses the documentary aspects of Bach's life, however, he says that this person is not only a character but also a concept that exists in all ages.
Behzad Abdi, the playwright and director of the show "Bach," which is scheduled to begin its second run tomorrow, Sunday, May 27, at 7:30 PM at the Nofel Loshato Theater, explained the production and performance process of the play.
Referring to the initial idea of the work and the formation of the story based on the encounter of an Iranian character with Bach, the famous German composer, in the show, Abdi said: "Since music has been and my constant concern and I have always loved and cherished the play, I decided to use the combination of the two arts to express a lofty concept that is an important part of Iranian music, and to stage it in a narrative format."
He went on to say: "In this play, I also used documentary aspects of Bach's life, but I have dealt with it more in the underlying layers of the story. Of course, I should add that Bach is not just a person, but a concept. A concept that exists in all ages and centuries and just needs to be understood."
The artist added: "Music is woven into the fabric of the work. A story takes place that is seemingly unrelated to music, but deep down it is nothing but music."
Abdi stated that fortunately, the position of music in theater is truly improving thanks to literate directors, adding: "Good composers are active in the theater field, and brilliant music can be heard in every genre, and this is very gratifying."
At the end, he said: "Let's support theater. Every theatrical work is the result of several months of continuous rehearsal. Let's make theater a part of our life, because theater is a very noble art form, and by seeing it in theaters, let's help to keep it fresh and lively."
