Davood Fathali Baygi:

I paid tribute to artists whose work was hindered by hypocrisy

Iran Theater- Davood Fathali Baygi has staged the play "A Soiree with Moliere" based on hypocrisy. He designed and directed this show because of the similarities between the play "Tartuffe" to the incident that led to its ban, and he considers this play a tribute to all artists whose hypocrisy has prevented them from continuing their work.

Famous Iranian playwright and director, Davood Fathali Baygi has explained about his new show to Iran Theater.

Fathali Beigi said that the story of the play is an examination of the principle of hypocrisy in history: "In the play "Tartuffe," Molière emphasizes the issue of religious hypocrisy."

He continued: "Hypocrisy is not necessarily related to religion. People may use things like human rights, freedom of speech, democracy, etc. as a mask, just like Western politicians do, but in practice they take other actions."

The director of the play " A Soiree with Moliere " added: "In part of the play, I indirectly and implicitly refer to a friend who hypocritically watched our play in 1984 and gave us permission to perform the show, and then, by presenting a dishonest analysis, caused the show to be banned; whereas I staged that play 15 years later and the play was also published. In fact, if the play had a content problem, it would not have received permission even after the passage of time, and this problem arose only because of this person's hypocrisy."

The artist stated: "The lyrics of Iranian plays are mostly prose but melodious, and this adds to the appeal of Iranian works. However, we also added musical pieces to the play to make it more appealing, because music is like salt in food."
