Iran Theater- Behrooz Gharibpour, the head of Aran group and the director of the puppet theater Ashura, announced to restage this dramatic work in the Ferdowsi Hall.<\/p>\n\n
Behrooz Gharibpour, famous playwright and director, said to Iran Theater about the performances of Ashura Opera in Muharram Month.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cThe performance of this opera will be in Ferdowsi Hall from 29 spetember to 3 October and if the audience is welcomed, The performances will be extended.<\/p>\n\n
The opera, which is centered on a religious tragedy, depicts the incidents leading to the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam and his 72 followers on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Muharram.<\/p>\n\n

Gharibpour\u2019s Ashura has been staged in many international theater festivals in Spain, Algeria, Syria, Poland and Italy.The play was warmly received at the Charleville-Mezieres\u2019s International Puppet Theatre Festival in France, 2011, when it was given two extra performances.Gharibpour\u2019s Hafez opera puppet show was \u00a0also went on stage in Dubai during three-day program from November 18 through 20,2013.<\/p>\n\n

The opera has been adapted from the life and works of the Persian lyric poet Hafez Shirazi.<\/p>\n\n
Behrouz Gharibpour is considered one of the pioneers of traditional Persian puppet theatre, known for his extensive research on Qajar puppetry.<\/p>\n\n
He has received many international awards such as The Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2002 and Sierna d\u2019Oro (Arrivano dal mare) in 2008.<\/p>\n\n

Macbeth, Mowlavi, Ashura and Rostam and Sohrab are among his better-known works.<\/p>\n\n
Behrouz Gharibpour \u00a0(born 1950 in Sanandaj) is an Iranian theatre director and pioneer of traditional Persian puppet theatre<\/p>\n\n
He studied theatre at Tehran University and at Dramatic Arts Academy in Rome (Silvio D'Amico). He founded Tehran and Esfahan puppet theatre centres and changed Tehran\u2019s slaughterhouse into the greatest Iran\u2019s Cultural Centre. He has experienced in writing and directorship in fields such as theatre, puppet theatre, cinema, documentary movies, and T.V.<\/p>\n\n
Gharibpour is known for his solid research works on the Iranian puppetry as was commonly practiced during Qajar era. He was the president of the UNIMA.<\/p>\n\n
