International competition of FITF canceled
Iran Theater- Hossein Mosafer Astaneh Director of the Fadjr International Theater Festival announced that the international section of the 39th FITF will not be held due to increase in coronavirus cases around the globe.
He said :“There will be no international section for the 39th edition of the festival, because most of the theater companies around the world are currently closed.”
“There is a definition of being international and there must have it all, which is not possible in the current situation.”
“ Several overseas troupes and stage experts will be invited to organize workshops or performances, but we cannot consider it an international event.”
He added: “Due to the pandemic, these times have not resulted in an ideal opportunity for Iranian troupes to produce new plays for taking part in the festival. “
Regarding the possibility of separating the international section of the FITF and holding it independently, he said: " There is no discussion in this regard in the festival's policy council and between the directors and officials."
Mosafer Astaneh said that the 2021 edition of the event will likely be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
